Chefatron gives approved vendors a way to list products or services, receive orders, track sales activity, and receive payouts through Stripe Express. This FAQ explains common vendor questions before applying or getting started.
Who can apply to become a vendor?
Anyone interested in selling approved products or services through Chefatron may apply to become a vendor. Chefatron may review applications and approve, deny, or request additional information before granting vendor access.
Vendors must follow Chefatron’s rules, provide accurate information, and comply with all laws, licenses, permits, taxes, food safety requirements, and other rules that apply to what they sell or offer.
Do I need to create a vendor account right away?
No. Regular users may use Chefatron for swaps and requests without becoming a vendor.
A vendor account is only needed if you want to sell products or services through Chefatron’s vendor marketplace.
How do I become a vendor?
To become a vendor, complete the vendor application. Chefatron may review your application, request additional information, and approve or deny vendor access.
If approved, you may need to complete vendor setup steps, including creating your vendor profile, connecting Stripe Express, and reviewing Chefatron’s vendor rules before selling.
Does Chefatron approve every vendor?
No. Chefatron may approve, deny, restrict, suspend, or remove vendor access at its discretion based on application information, policy compliance, safety concerns, complaints, legal concerns, or other platform risks.
Submitting an application does not guarantee approval.
Vendor approval does not mean Chefatron has verified a vendor’s license, permit, insurance, food safety compliance, tax status, qualifications, or legal authority to sell a specific product or service.
What can vendors sell?
Approved vendors may list approved products or services that follow Chefatron’s posting rules and applicable laws.
Examples may include food items, local services, handmade items, everyday goods, or other approved offerings.
Vendors are responsible for making sure their listings are accurate, lawful, safe, and allowed under Chefatron’s rules.
Can food vendors sell on Chefatron?
Food-related vendors may apply, but they are responsible for knowing and following all applicable food safety, licensing, labeling, cottage food, delivery, shipping, pickup, sales, tax, and local/state requirements.
Chefatron does not verify that every food vendor has the proper license, permit, inspection, certification, insurance, tax registration, or legal approval. Vendors are responsible for confirming what they are allowed to sell.
Food vendors should clearly describe their food items and include important information when applicable, such as ingredients, common allergens, quantity, pickup or delivery details, storage needs, and timing.
Does Chefatron handle vendor taxes?
Chefatron may collect applicable sales tax on taxable paid transactions completed through the website where required by law.
However, vendors remain responsible for understanding and following all tax obligations that apply to their own business, products, services, income, filings, licenses, permits, and records.
Chefatron may provide vendor tools, order records, sales activity, and Stripe Express payout information that can help vendors stay organized. Chefatron does not provide tax, legal, accounting, insurance, or licensing advice.
Vendors should consult a qualified professional if they have questions about taxes, licenses, permits, insurance, or legal obligations.
What happens with swaps or off-platform arrangements?
Regular swaps, requests, barter listings, and off-platform arrangements are handled directly between users. Chefatron does not process payment or collect commission on those arrangements unless specifically stated.
If a vendor or user completes a sale, service, swap, barter, or arrangement outside of Chefatron’s paid checkout process, that person is responsible for any applicable tax, licensing, refund, recordkeeping, and legal obligations related to that transaction.
How do vendor payouts work?
Vendor payments may be processed through Stripe Express. Approved vendors may be required to connect a Stripe Express account before they can receive payouts through Chefatron.
Payout timing, identity verification, bank account information, payout holds, chargebacks, disputes, reserves, and related payout requirements are handled through Stripe and may vary depending on the vendor’s account status.
Vendors are responsible for reviewing their Stripe Express dashboard, payout information, payment records, and related notices from Stripe.
Does Chefatron take a commission?
Yes. Chefatron’s current standard platform commission is 5% of vendor sales completed through the website, unless otherwise stated.
Chefatron may change its commission rate, platform fees, payout process, or payment terms over time. Updated fees may be communicated through the website, vendor dashboard, checkout process, vendor documentation, email, or other reasonable platform notice.
Vendors should review the current fee structure before listing products or services.
Who pays Stripe or payment processing fees?
Vendors are responsible for applicable Stripe or payment processing fees, unless Chefatron states otherwise.
These processing fees are separate from Chefatron’s platform commission and may be deducted before payout.
For example, if a vendor sells an item through Chefatron checkout, the vendor payout may be reduced by Chefatron’s platform commission and applicable Stripe/payment processing fees. Sales tax, when collected, is handled separately from vendor earnings and may not be treated as vendor income.
Can vendors track their sales?
Yes. Vendors may have access to vendor dashboard tools, order history, sales activity, and Stripe Express payout information.
These tools may help vendors stay organized, but vendors are still responsible for maintaining their own records for tax, accounting, licensing, insurance, and business purposes.
Vendors should regularly review and save their order records, payout information, refund records, customer communications, and expense records.
Who handles refunds?
Refunds are generally handled by the vendor. Customers should first contact the vendor about refund concerns, order issues, cancellations, or fulfillment problems.
Chefatron may review complaints or refund-related issues, but Chefatron does not automatically guarantee refunds for every purchase.
Chefatron is not a full-service buyer protection, seller protection, insurance, reimbursement, or guarantee program.
Repeated refund issues, unresolved complaints, misleading listings, unsafe conduct, failed fulfillment, or policy violations may result in vendor restrictions or removal.
Who handles customer communication?
Vendors are responsible for communicating with customers about their own listings, orders, pickup, delivery, shipping, scheduling, product details, service details, and customer concerns.
Vendors should respond professionally and keep communication clear and accurate.
Do vendors need insurance?
Chefatron does not provide insurance for vendors. Vendors are responsible for deciding whether they need business insurance, food liability insurance, general liability insurance, professional insurance, or other coverage for what they sell or provide.
Can vendors also use swaps?
Yes. A vendor may also use Chefatron as a regular user for swaps or requests, but vendor sales and regular swaps are treated differently.
Vendor sales may use checkout and Stripe Express. Swaps and requests are arranged directly between users and are not guaranteed by Chefatron.
Can Chefatron remove a vendor?
Yes. Chefatron may remove listings, restrict vendor access, suspend accounts, or remove vendors if there are policy violations, repeated complaints, unsafe conduct, suspected fraud, illegal activity, misleading listings, failed fulfillment, unresolved refund issues, payment issues, tax or compliance concerns, or other concerns.
Vendors may contact Chefatron if they believe a restriction or removal should be reviewed. Submitting a review request does not guarantee reinstatement.
Where do I apply?
