Refunds, Complaints & Disputes

Chefatron is a marketplace that allows users, vendors, and community members to connect through food, items, services, vendor purchases, swaps, and requests. Because each transaction, order, swap, or arrangement involves independent users or vendors, Chefatron has created this policy to explain how refunds, complaints, disputes, and account concerns may be handled.

This page is meant to provide a fair and consistent process while also clarifying that Chefatron does not directly produce, sell, deliver, ship, prepare, inspect, or guarantee the products, services, food items, or swaps posted by users or vendors.

Vendor Purchases

When a customer purchases an item or service from a vendor through Chefatron’s checkout process, the vendor is responsible for fulfilling the order, providing accurate listing information, communicating with the customer, and handling customer service related to that purchase.

Chefatron provides the marketplace platform, listing tools, checkout tools, payment connection tools, and vendor access, but the vendor remains responsible for the product, service, food item, delivery, shipping, pickup, scheduling, refund decision, and legal compliance related to their listing.

Chefatron may collect applicable sales tax on taxable paid transactions completed through the website where required by law.

Refund Requests

Refunds for vendor purchases are generally handled by the vendor. Customers should first contact the vendor directly through the available order or messaging process to request a refund, explain the issue, or ask for a resolution.

A refund may be requested for reasons such as:

  • The item or service was not provided
  • The item was materially different from the listing
  • The vendor canceled or could not fulfill the order
  • There was a payment or order issue
  • There was a shipping, pickup, delivery, or scheduling issue
  • Another reasonable concern related to the purchase

Chefatron may review refund-related complaints, but Chefatron does not automatically guarantee refunds for every purchase. Refund decisions may depend on the order details, vendor response, customer communication, available records, platform policies, and applicable payment processor rules.

Chefatron is not a full-service buyer protection, seller protection, insurance, reimbursement, or guarantee program.

Chefatron may suspend or remove a vendor if repeated complaints, unresolved refund issues, misleading listings, unsafe behavior, failed fulfillment, or policy violations occur.

Payment Disputes and Chargebacks

Payment disputes, chargebacks, refund processing, payment holds, or related payment issues may involve Stripe, the customer’s bank, the vendor, and Chefatron depending on the situation.

Vendors are responsible for responding to customer concerns and providing information when needed to review an order issue, refund request, or payment dispute.

Refunds, chargebacks, or disputes may affect vendor payouts, vendor balances, platform records, or Stripe account status.

Chefatron may review available order records, payment status, user communication, vendor response, and platform policies when handling payment-related complaints. However, payment processor rules, bank decisions, and Stripe requirements may affect the outcome.

Swap and Trade Disputes

Swaps, requests, and trades on Chefatron are arranged directly between users. Chefatron does not process payment for swaps and does not guarantee that a user will complete a swap, provide the promised item or service, or be satisfied with the exchange.

Users are responsible for communicating clearly, confirming details, reviewing what is being offered, and deciding whether they are comfortable moving forward with a swap, request, trade, or other user-to-user arrangement.

Chefatron may review complaints about swaps, remove listings, restrict accounts, or suspend users if there are reports of scams, unsafe behavior, repeated no-shows, harassment, misleading posts, or other policy violations.

For free swaps, barter listings, requests, or off-platform arrangements, users are responsible for the terms and outcome of their own agreements. Chefatron may review reports and take moderation action when appropriate, but Chefatron is not responsible for reimbursing users or enforcing private off-platform agreements.

Off-Platform Payments and Arrangements

Users and vendors should be cautious with payments or agreements made outside the Chefatron platform. Chefatron may have limited ability to review, track, or assist with issues involving cash payments, payment apps, private messages, or other off-platform arrangements.

If a user chooses to pay, accept payment, swap, barter, or arrange a service outside of Chefatron’s checkout system, they do so at their own risk.

Vendors are encouraged to use the official Chefatron checkout process for vendor sales whenever available so there is a clearer order record.

Off-platform payments may make it harder to track payment, taxes, refunds, delivery, shipping, disputes, or order history.

If an individual user or vendor completes an off-platform taxable sale, that user or vendor is responsible for their own tax obligations.

Complaints About Users or Vendors

Chefatron may review complaints involving users, vendors, listings, messages, purchases, swaps, requests, account behavior, food compliance concerns, order issues, or payment concerns.

Examples of complaints may include:

  • Misleading listings
  • Failure to provide an item or service
  • Unsafe or inappropriate behavior
  • Suspected scams
  • Harassment or abusive communication
  • Prohibited items or services
  • Food safety or compliance concerns
  • Repeated cancellations or no-shows
  • Vendor payout or order concerns
  • Refund or payment issues
  • Account removal or appeal requests

Chefatron may request screenshots, order details, listing links, messages, dates, names, payment information, or other information to help review the complaint.

Account Removal or Suspension

Chefatron may remove listings, restrict account features, suspend accounts, or remove users or vendors from the platform if there are policy violations, repeated complaints, unsafe conduct, suspected fraud, illegal activity, misuse of the platform, unresolved refund issues, tax or compliance concerns, payment issues, or other behavior that creates risk for Chefatron or its users.

Users or vendors who believe their account was restricted or removed unfairly may contact Chefatron and request a review.

Submitting a review request does not guarantee reinstatement.

How Chefatron Reviews Complaints

When Chefatron reviews a complaint, we may consider:

  • The type of issue reported
  • Order records or listing details
  • Messages or screenshots provided
  • Whether payment occurred through Chefatron
  • Whether the issue involved a vendor purchase, swap, request, or off-platform arrangement
  • Whether either party has repeated complaints
  • Whether safety, fraud, food compliance, payment, tax, or legal concerns are involved
  • Whether Chefatron’s policies were violated
  • Whether the vendor or user responded to requests for information

Chefatron will try to review complaints fairly and consistently, but Chefatron may make decisions at its discretion based on the information available.

Possible outcomes may include:

  • No action
  • Warning the user or vendor
  • Asking the parties to resolve the issue directly
  • Removing or editing a listing
  • Refund review or vendor follow-up
  • Temporary account restriction
  • Vendor suspension
  • Permanent account removal
  • Referral to the payment processor, bank, or appropriate authority when needed

Taxes and Records

Chefatron may collect applicable sales tax on taxable paid transactions completed through the website where required by law.

Users, sellers, and vendors are responsible for understanding and following any applicable federal, state, and local tax requirements that apply to their own listings, sales, swaps, services, income, business activities, licenses, permits, and records.

Free swaps, barter listings, requests, and off-platform arrangements are handled directly between users. Chefatron does not process payment or collect commission on those arrangements unless specifically stated.

Chefatron does not provide tax, legal, accounting, licensing, or financial advice.
